Wordhurst

Editorial policy

Every page on Wordhurst follows the same process so readers can trust what they read.

Who writes and checks the pages

Each topic has one named writer. Alishba Khan writes the 5 topics listed on that profile. Zeeshan Akbar writes the 3 topics listed on that profile. Every page is then checked by Junaid Khan before it goes live. The full process is in our fact-checking policy.

Sources

Meanings, parts of speech and pronunciations are checked against at least two major dictionaries: Merriam-Webster, Cambridge Dictionary or Oxford Learner's Dictionaries. Slang and emoji pages also use the Unicode Consortium and current usage on public platforms. Every page lists the references it was checked against.

Original examples

Example sentences, comparison tables, memory tricks and notes on common mistakes are written by our team. We do not copy dictionary examples.

Review

Our fact-checker reads every page before it is published, checks each meaning against the sources and confirms that the examples are correct and natural.

Updates and corrections

Language changes, slang most of all. We review pages regularly and show the date of the last update at the top of each page. If you find an error, email corrections@wordhurst.com; we correct confirmed errors and update the date.

Independence and advertising

Ads help pay for the site. Advertisers have no say over what we write, and ads are never placed inside the quick answer.
